The rapid progress of technology has made complex and advanced tools available to medical and health operators. Such tools have prompted deep changes in the organisation and practise of hospitals.

 

Medical sciences have progressed rapidly as a result.  But the management of the tools themselves requires capabilities and resources that are mostly inadequate in Italian medical structures. For this reason CILEA thought of providing its experience in information technology and communication to the medical/health world. This is not only for the management of the most traditional automation services, but mainly for  the introduction of new technologies and specific services. These custom services are realised with the collaboration within the academic world, both Italian and international.

 

After pinpointing the needs of the users, CILEA proceeds with choosing the architectural solution, and designing and developing the application in close cooperation with the users. In the end, CILEA can also host the service in its server farm. Particular attention is paid to the training of the all the users of the application.

 

The projects thus far developed are the result of a multidisciplinary collaboration between experts in information technology, statistics, and experts in the medical and health fields.

 

Recent projects were developed by using web based technologies. There are mortality atlases, analysis of discharge cards of patients from hospitals and services concerning the management of follow-up problems.

 

CILEA is also developing a system to collect clinical data based on research carried out in different centres, respecting the guidelines about privacy and security.For hospitals and biomedical structures, CILEA can design and implement local and geographical networks or intra-nets, and design house websites.

 

CILEA finally pays particular attention to the diffusion of its applications and solutions, both using its own channels and by taking part in national and international conferences.
