The Naval Engineer Ignazio Maria Viola during his training grant at CILEA (LaborLab project for the Technical-Scientific environment financed by Regione Lombardia) together with the CILEA HPC group performed the world’s first confirmed one billion cell CFD simulation.

Hewlett Packard supercomputer recently acquired by CILEA in

CILEA in cooperation with the University of Milano, Milano-Bicocca, Pavia, Bergamo, Brescia and with the Politecnico of Milano, improves its computing power with the acquisition of a new supercluster for scientific and high performance computing applications provided by Hewlett Packard. The cluster is composed by 208 nodes with two processors Intel Xeon QuadCore 3.16 GHz. In this way CILEA is confirming itself among the most important European computing centres.[more]

The High Performance computing in Italy (Calcolo ad Alte Prestazioni in Italia - CAPI), organised yearly by CILEA since 1997, is an important opportunity to discuss super-computing issues in Italy.
It is also an opportunity for academic researchers and industry to meet and exchange information.[more]

CARE is the co-ordination group for access to electronic resources established by CRUI, the Italian Consortia and the other Groups operating in the market for electronic licenses. Stipulating nation-wide agreements with publishers is one of CARE’s tasks.
CARE intends to collect information about negotiating agents specifically acting in the European area as consultants for the purchase of electronic licences for scientific journals, or directly carrying out negotiations with publishers on behalf of users.
The required information should be sent by December 14, 2006.[more]
